Redeeming Love

I’ve never been much of a reader, but recently a good friend gave me a book that I couldn’t put down. This book called “Redeeming Love” by Francine Rivers is a skillful retelling of the biblical love story of Gomer and Hosea in a tale set against the exciting backdrop of the California Gold Rush. The heroine, Angel, is a young woman who was sold into prostitution as a child. Michael Hosea is a godly man sent into Angel’s life to draw her into the Savior’s redeeming love. This book opened my eyes to see how God’s love can take away a past full of hurt and abuse and give you a future that is full of hope and joy. I hope that this book touches your heart the way that it has touched mine.

Do you ever have a day where you just feel horrible about yourself and are all depressed?   Well I do, and if you’re human or a woman then the answer is probably yes.  When you have days like this it can be pretty difficult to get past all those negative thoughts, but I’ve found there is something you can do to help.  The next time you’re feeling down try surrounding yourself with friends or family even if you really feel like being alone.  Surrounding yourself with others helps to take your mind off of negative thoughts and on to more positive things that can turn your day and mood around.Send in the clowns

More Precious Than We Know

Today I went out walking like I always do when all of a sudden I heard a loud crash.  I quickly turned around and to my horror saw a car in the middle of the street with a smashed head-light.  As I made my way over to see if anyone was hurt or if I could help I realized how unpredictable life can really be.  One minute you can be on top of the world, or feel like you are, then the next feel like you’re a failure or lower than low.  The truth is that we need to make the best of every moment in our lives.  The “ups and downs” we go through help mold and shape us into the person we’re meant to be. There have been many times where I can’t understand why certain things happen or don’t happen, and I’m sure the same goes for you.  What I do understand is how precious every day is that we have to live on this earth.Smiling Kids How far you go in life depends on your being tender with the young, compassionate with the aged, sympathetic with the striving, and tolerant of the weak and strong. From Start To Finish

Why is it so hard sometimes to finish things that we start?  It’s like one minute we’re totally stoked about something and then the next we’re so over it and on to the next thing.  I’m sad to say, but that describes exactly how my last few weeks have been.  Why am I sad you ask?  Well, through all of it I’ve learned a very hard, but good lesson that I hope to pass on to you.  I’ve realized that the joy and excitement you get from starting something new doesn’t bring full satisfaction until you’ve finished it.  If you go through your whole life just stopping and starting things instead of finishing them you’re only selling yourself short.  When I say this, I’m really talking to myself as well; Do yourself a favor and finish something you’ve started.  It may be hard to get through it, but the joy of completing it will far exceed any of the trials you came upon.

A women After God's Own HeartThere are so many books out there these days that claim to be giving you great encouragement and advice. And there are so many times when you pick a book, read it, and end up being disappointed. I have found a book that leaves absolutely no room for any disappointment. The author Elizabeth George has written a book called A Woman After God’s Own Heart (Updated & Expanded), and in all truth it is one of the most compelling and insightful books I’ve ever read. In this book you as a woman are shown how to live this life to it’s fullest. This book shows you how to fill that hole in your heart that no person and no thing can.
