Redeeming Love

I’ve never been much of a reader, but recently a good friend gave me a book that I couldn’t put down. This book called “Redeeming Love” by Francine Rivers is a skillful retelling of the biblical love story of Gomer and Hosea in a tale set against the exciting backdrop of the California Gold Rush. The heroine, Angel, is a young woman who was sold into prostitution as a child. Michael Hosea is a godly man sent into Angel’s life to draw her into the Savior’s redeeming love. This book opened my eyes to see how God’s love can take away a past full of hurt and abuse and give you a future that is full of hope and joy. I hope that this book touches your heart the way that it has touched mine.

I was searching the web today and found this definition of marriage on Google: “the state of being a married couple voluntarily joined for life (or until divorce)”. This definition is actually one of the many you can find on Google, Wikipedia, or the plain old dictionary. In my opinion there is one place where you can find true meaning of what marriage means, and that place is in the bible. The bible clearly states that marriage is to be between one woman and one man with God reigning over them both. We are under attack with Proposition 8 endangering this precious gift of marriage God has given to us. We need to make a stand and vote Yes on Proposition 8 so that we can protect the covenant of marriage. We should not change what God has already made good. Please join me in voting Yes on Proposition 8. God Bless.

It’s Fall Again…Apple Season Is Here!!!

I am so excited that it is fall! It’s not that I don’t like the other three seasons; I just love the change that fall brings us the best. The leaves on the trees are so beautiful as they start changing to yellow, brown, and orange. Instead of scorching hot days the temperature tones down a bit to where you can even wear a sweater while the sun is still up. Now that fall has arrived I have to say that I am really looking forward to going to Oak Glen, also known as “Apple Country”. Oak Glen is such a beautiful place to go and make some life-long memories. I have many memories that were made up at Oak Glen, one of my favorites being making my own candle (I believe I still have it to this day). You can not only pick your own apples, but also make your own apple cider to take home and share with friends and family. I know that I’ll be going this fall season for sure and I hope you get the opportunity to enjoy “Apple Country” as much as have and will for years to come. If you have any ideas for some fun places to visit or fun things to do this fall season let me know.

Girl Talk Nation Community!!!

You know, today I realized that I haven’t written a blog for a while about how GTN (Girl Talk Nation) Community is doing, so here is an update on how things have been. I am pleased to say that I have quite a few girls on the site and it is still growing. I’m hoping that this new school year will bring many new girls to join this site I’ve created just for them. I’m also really excited because this year I will have more time to work on GTN. I will constantly be working on making GTN Community the best it can be with updates and blogs posted weekly and of course I will always do my best to respond to all the comments and messages sent to me. I have a strong passion for encouraging young girls to trust in the Lord and to build strong friendships with other girls. I look forward to seeing GTN Community continue to grow and I welcome any girls or young women who want to become a part of the GTN family.

It’s Not Always 50/50

If you haven’t already figured it out yet a relationship isn’t always 50% you and 50% him when it comes to a friendship or a romantic relationship. Sometimes it may be 80% you and 20% him, or 20% you and 80% him. With statistics aside, it’s important that we both do our best to contribute to a relationship. For example, if you aren’t feeling well and 20% is all you can give that day then he can do a little extra, and the same goes for you if he is sick. When we both do our best and put others before ourselves it reflects in our relationship. I have found that when I put God first that everything else tends to follow the way that it should because I’m reading the Word and asking for His help to be the best I can be for those around me and myself.

Are You Safe?

I was watching the news today and to my horror I heard a story about a young girl who was brutally attacked and raped while walking home. I feel like every time I turn on the news there’s another story about a woman being abused or raped. It’s so sad that we can’t even walk around our own neighborhood anymore without constantly looking over our shoulder to make sure we’re safe. I’ve been seriously considering taking some self defense classes to teach me some moves in case I ever need them. (God forbid I ever have to use them though.) I don’t think we need to be paranoid about it, but we should definitely be smart and not put ourselves in vulnerable situations. We need to know the right way to react in a scary situation like this and the wrong way so we don’t make critical mistakes.

More Than One Kind Of Beauty

If you didn’t already know, which I’m hoping you do, there is more than one kind of beauty. The trouble is that we tend to focus more on only one type and that’s the outside beauty. It seems like, especially as girls, we’re always doing something to try and enhance our outer beauty. Im not saying that it’s wrong to want to look good, but I am saying that it’s important to have a balance between the two. The truth is that we all grow old and our bodies can become less attractive. The outer beauty will fade, and I have to admit it’s scary for anyone to think about. Something that will never fade away is the beauty we have inside. What is inner beauty? Well, inner beauty is having a character and personality of love, patience, kindness, and understanding. Unlike beautifying our outside, to beautify our inside takes action and a heart willing to help others. Of course, no one is perfect and I’m not saying we should stop buying makeup or pretty clothes. All I think we should do is not forget about the beauty that lasts and maybe once in a while take some time to work on it.

Don’t Be A “Girl-zilla”

Many of us young women out there want to meet our “prince charming” or “knight in shining armor”, and some of us may think we have already met him. For those of you who think you’ve found the man of your dreams and you’ve been dating for a while you’re probably wondering when he’s gonna ask you the “big one”. Yes that’s right, that wonderful moment when he gets on his knee and asks you to be his wife. Waiting for this moment can be extremely difficult and it’s not always easy to be patient. I know this because I’m waiting; yes that’s right, I’m waiting. For a while I was really nagging my boyfriend and making him feel bad about not giving me an engagement ring. I was being a “girl-zilla” instead of a “bride-zilla.” (That show is so ridiculous that it’s funny). Anyway, I’ve realized now that I’m glad he hasn’t asked me to marry him yet. I only want him ask me if and when the time is right. My boyfriend keeps telling me to wait on the Lord and trust in Him, and I know that is what I need to do. In the meantime, I’m trying to focus on doing things that are productive, on accomplishing goals, and on all the blessings I already have. It’s hard to be patient, but I’m sure the rewards for it are well worth the wait.

Love Is In The Air

It’s hard to believe, but Valentine’s Day is right around the corner! I’m sure many of you have a special someone in your life whom you know is going to get you a Valentine’s gift. Have you thought about what you want to get for your special someone? What is it that would show your valentine just how much you care about them? To help you out I decided to put a little list together that might give you some great ideas for your sweet heart.

Surprise him with romantic notes that eventually lead him to a special gift. (ex: new watch, homemade dinner, etc)
Treat them to a day of pampering. (ex: relaxing massage at a spa)
Go out to a candle light dinner.
Create a hand-made card with a special note inside.
Serenade him with a special love song or poem that you wrote for him.
